An Elderly Woman Is Visited Twice A Day By A Wild Stag: It’s Been Going On For Years

I can imagine that being an elderly widow living in a mountainous region can sometimes be a difficult and lonely existence. Just think about the climate alone; there’s the snow to deal with in the winter, the mosquitoes in the summer, and, when it rains, it may go on for days. Add to that a life with few visitors can make mountain living, as romantic as it may sound, a challenge.

However, for Mette Kvam of Aurland, Norway, mountain living also has brought it’s beautiful and touching moments.  For the last 4 years, a wild stag named “Flippen” has been visiting just outside her mountainside home, twice-a-day.

“She says that they are so lucky for having each other,” Britt Haugsevje Vangn told a news reporter from Caters News. “Mette has no kids and since her husband passed away she has no one – she only has Flippen in her life now.”

In the video by Mr Vangn, the stag carefully approaches the window just below what looks like Ms. Kvam’s kitchen. Up on it’s hind legs, Flippen’s large mouth eventually reaches the open window. The 81-year old widow is waiting there with bread and sometimes other snacks as well. She gently rubs Flippen’s head and pets him to his delight.

The pair has been such a hit in the area that hunters in the area have agreed not to shoot the stag because of the friendship between then.

You’ve got to see how gentle the stag is with the elderly widow. A very touching story.
