In The Aftermath Of Hurricane Harvey, Doggie Carrying A Food Bag Goes Viral

Hurricane Harvey has done a lot of damage to the city of Houston and many of the surrounding communities. However, that hasn’t stopped the tough spirit of the State of Texas from shining through even in the pets of the affected communities.

The picture below was taken by Facebook user Tiele Dockens in Sinton, a small town just outside of Corpus Christi, Texas. Tiele wrote in her page: “This dog is walking around Sinton TX carrying a entire bag of dog food with him. LOL #refugee”.

Fox News later identified the dog’s name as Otis. Apparently, it got loose from a porch on Friday evening just as the hurricane winds began ruthlessly battering the Texas shoreline.

At the request of his 5-year-old grandson, Salvador Segovia was dog sitting Otis when it got away from under his care. Realizing that his grandson’s dog had escaped into the dangerous, high-wind conditions, Salvador looked for him as best he could given the weather situation. He continued yelling its’ name over and over but Otis was nowhere to be found. Being a persistent man, Segovia eventually tracked Otis down before his grandson returned.

Apparently Otis has a reputation to keep in the town of Sinton. “Otis can go to Dairy Queen and he can get a hamburger. He’s the only dog allowed to lie down in front of the county court house,” Salvador mentioned to the Chron.com website. “He also goes to (the grocery store) H‑E‑B. He’s not a stray. He’s a good dog.”

Way to go Otis!
