When Fiancee Gets Cold Feet, Groom-To-Be Sells Her Honeymoon Ticket For A Mystery Female Date And Raises More than $10,000 In The Process

When I first heard about this story, I thought about Rod Steward’s song “Some Guys Have All The Luck”. Rod might have never heard of John Whitbread but his song would certainly apply to John’s very funny situation.

A few of years ago, John Whitbread from Leicestershire (U.K.) and his fiancee Amy were busy preparing for their wedding.  Howevre, as the wedding date got closer, Amy got very nervous and called it off.  By that point, John had already purchased their honeymoon tickets to an all-inclusive, four star luxury resort in the Dominican Republic. As soon as he realized the honeymoon was not going to happen, he contacted the travel agency that sold him the tickets.

As you might imagine, John was not happy about the situation and tried to make the best of it. Unfortunately for John, the agency would only able to refund him half the 1950 British Pounds he had spent for their accommodations. Given how much he had spent, he was not in the mood for throwing it away. Regardless, after what his fiancee had put him through, he deserved a vacation.

That’s when he teamed up with a friend and decided to go a little crazy. He put up an eBay auction. To show that he was a good sport, any amount over the half it cost him, would be donated to a testicular cancer charity. Below is the eBay auction description.

In the end, not only did he cover his costs, he only raised over $10,000 USD to support the charity.

Here’s John getting ready for his trip his mystery date. So guys do have all the luck. Way to go John!
