Young School Boy Becomes Overnight Internet Star When Asked About His Mother On The First Day Of Pre-School

In 2015, Andrew Macias, a young boy on his first day of pre-school in East Los Angeles, CA, was interviewed by reporter Courtney Friel from KTLA.  The resulting video went viral and made Andrew an overnight internet star.

At the beginning of the video, the reporter asks:”Andrew, are you excited for pre-kindergarten?”

“Yes!”

Wanting to get a better answer, the reporter pries a little deeper and asks why.

Andrew, now not quite sure of himself, replies: “I don’t know”.

Courtney continues with: “Are you going to miss your mom?”

Andrew responds “No”.

“No???”

Now young Andrew starts feeling upset by his response and gives a very faint laugh followed by a very genuine and upsetting cry.

The TV reporter now, realizing she has upset Andrew, tries to smooth things by telling him not to cry.  However, it’s a little late for that.

Watch little Andrew’s reaction.

Here’s a little more about the back story on this video:  Don’t feel too upset for Andrew. The KTLA reporter, Courtney Friel, apparently caught a lot of attention for making little Andrew cry during the interview. Though watching the video can be a little upsetting, subsequent articles revealed that Andrew’s mother was behind the camera all the time.  Since the interview first went viral, Little Andrew and his family have been able to take advantage of their free publicity and have even appeared on an eBay commercial.
