Special Needs Teen Breaks Into Tears When Popular High School Football Player Asks Her A Question

The teenage years can be challenging for many parents.  It’s even more so when your child is a special needs teenager.  Helping them mix socially with other teenagers while having a disability can be a heart-wrenching challenge for many parents.

Maddie Morley, a teenager from Sacramento, California has always wanted to attend the high school prom but lives with autism. You can imagine the challenges Maddie’s parents have had to help their teenage daughter achieve this goal. Fortunately for them, a Sacramento, CA organization named Evening of Dreams, has the perfect answer for children such as Maddie.

During a large school assembly sometime before the prom, Maddie hears her name called out over the cafeteria’s loudspeakers:

“Maddie Thompson Morley, will you please come up here?”

That was quickly followed by: “Someone has a very important question to ask you”.

Maddie rushes to the front of the school cafeteria stage, apprehensive but anticipating something.  She must be thinking to herself, “there are a lot more people in the cafeteria today — and what about those cameras?”

Just behind the curtain, a popular young man from the high school football team is waiting with flowers and a poster written in large letters: “Maddie, ‘Evening of Dreams’ would be a [ball] with YOU!!!”.

While this is all happening, Maddie’s mom is hiding in the cafeteria waiting with iPhone in hand to record these very touching moments supporting her daughter’s dream.

You can only imagine how elated Maddie feels after being asked to the prom by a popular football player but, even more surprising, is what happens to Maddie on prom night. You won’t want to miss it!
